HIDDEN GEMS

Android asked for a content franchise that could fit trending influencers into the concept in order to promote the launch of the new Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. Stacked with hardware features that worked in tandem with Google products, the phone was ideal for exploration and content capture out in the real world. Hidden Gems was born as a way for showcasing how the new phone and Google services worked together to seamlessly integrate into everyday use, helping users find and enjoy more of the world around them.

We partnered with Joseph Lee and Quannah ChasingHorse to create the first two episodes where they would use the Galaxy S23 Ultra to document a day of visiting hidden gem destinations in the real world that reflected their own personal hidden gem interests.

With a relatively small budget, I led the team in ideating, producing, shooting, and editing these pieces, delivering a content franchise that the Android team was incredibly happy with, not only for the sincere and authentic tonality, but also because of the evergreen nature of the series and its ability to work as a vehicle to promote the releases of any new Android phones and devices going forward.

The project marked the first long form content piece our social agency created for the Android clients, adding the YouTube platform to our scope alongside our existing Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter mandates.

This project also marked my own debut in a directorial role while also acting as an Associate Creative Director (it’s a long story; better to share over coffee or an espresso martini).
