TRENDING ON FACEBOOK

Despite disruptive competition from new social media platforms with an emphasis on content distribution, Facebook Groups still maintained a relatively active user base due to its function as an organizational and community management platform.

We were tasked with furthering the reach of Facebook Groups by creating promotional social content that would complement in-house featurettes introducing audiences to various niche groups on Facebook that were trending in popularity. Each week, we focused on a unique Facebook Group, researching its subculture and learning the motives and etiquettes of the community in order to craft bite-sized social engagement pieces from authentic UGC and stock footage that helped introduce and encourage new users to join these groups.

Girls That Board is a Facebook group devoted to women who enjoy snowboarding. We built a lesson plan around teaching new members about the slang of the slopes and introduced them to tongue-in-cheek archetypes of snowboard culture.

Show Me Your Ramen is a group devoted to cooking, displaying, and enjoying ramen. We leaned into the unique Japanese social etiquette of slurping ramen to create a misophonia-inducing quiz as well as the group’s fairly liberal stance on appropriate ramen toppings.

Bad Bitch Book Club is a group that offers a digital book club for avid women readers. For this group, we filmed and edited a skit highlighting the passion and commitment members have toward finishing their latest book selections as well as a quiz that let audiences assert their main character energy across situational tropes from popular genres of fiction.

Not to Be Dramatic but I Would Die for This Birb is a group dedicated to celebrating the bird kingdom, complete with the expected juxtaposition of earnest sentiment and absurd irony that pervades modern social media. For this group, we created a parodic educational explainer to help distinguish regular “birds” from the eponymous “birbs.” We also used popular content of birds seemingly dancing to host a birb dance-off for audiences to vote on.
